As long time film photographers and artists, we started "Cream City Photography" several years ago to
provide an outlet to present our artwork to the viewer and as a service for our wedding and other
portraiture clients. When we started this venture, we borrowed a nickname for Milwaukee that is seldom
heard anymore, "Cream City", and named our photography business after it.
For many years we used our 35mm cameras for our enjoyment and to express how we viewed the world. We have since packed those away and only take them out on rare occasions. We now both enjoy the use of our digital cameras and the whole new world of creativity that they, and the computer, have opened up in the world of photography. All the photos on this site were taken and "developed" with our high resolution digital equipment. |

Today, there are many critics of digital photography that claim that the "Romance" has now been taken out of photography with the use of all the electronic equipment. We counter that by saying that the "Romance" was never in the type of film used, or in the developer that was used, or even working in the darkroom. Rather, the "Romance" has always been the "Idea" that the photographer was trying to express to the viewer. To debate what processes or technologies are used to create the "Idea" on the print is not what the true essence of photography is all about. We did not lose our ability to convey our ideas when we switched to digital equipment, rather, it has offered us new ways for us to express ourselves and how we present our view of the world to you. |
